This was originally used on an aerial camera. 3 inch focal length f/2.8. We believe these were made specifically for aerial camera production as we can find no information on this lens. Catalog number is 102105, also labeled REF 72314-780-122. Front clear lens diameter is 35mm, barrel is 48mm diameter. Rear clear lens diameter of 32mm, barrel is 40mm diameter. Looks to be 8 elements and all optics are fully AR coated (front element may have some coating break-up). The shutter is opened and closed with a lever on the back of the unit. The entire lens assembly is 50mm long and marked 'Lens made in West Germany'. The mounting plate measures 75mm x 55mm x 12mm thick and has four 4mm holes for mounting. Good luck finding this lens anywhere else! |

These come out of the KB-18A & B aerial cameras. The lens is a 3 inch f/2.8 Fairchild coated lens assembly (Our understanding is that Zeiss actually made these but the Zeiss name is not on the lens). Labeled 'Fairchild, Space and Defense Systems, El Segundo California'. Lens front clear diameter is 34mm, rear lens clear diameter is 32mm. Lens assembly is mounted in a rectangular steal base. The base is 75mm long by 57mm wide. This base fits to the shutter assembly. The shutter assembly is our item number M2984. The gear ratio of the motor is 100:1. Phase 1: 115VAC or Phase 2: 36VDC. There is a 14 pin connection that runs to the motor. There are 4 gears from the motor to the shutter assembly that makes the shutter open and close. When the shutter is all the way open it is 5.13mm high, when all the way closed it is 0.65mm. The shutter is enclosed with two stainless steel plates which total are 105mm long. The rest of the housing is anodized aluminum. There are four mounting holes and four legs with holes which housed the lens. The whole assembly is 117mm square. Great condition. |

Very similar to the Fuji Photo 6 inch Focal Length Metrogon lens that we sold out last year. This one does not have the manufacturer's name, but it's a beauty! Metrogon lenses are a 4 element design with very strong curved positive meniscus lens elements covering around a 90 degree field. They are used in aerial cameras for very large format film for the preparation of topographic maps. The 6 inch focal length lens covers at least a 9 inch x 9 inch format at f/6.3. Our understanding is that as the center aperture is made smaller (larger f number), the coverage format becomes larger. Some cameras had interchangeable center apertures for different film formats. Metrogon lenses use an anti-vignetting graded-density filter to hold back the central illumination while permitting the whole of the light to reach the edges of the picture area. Great lens for comet searching. In his book 'Star Gazing with Telescope and Camera', George Keene states on page 97 & 98 that the 6 inch f/6.3 Metrogon produces superb images. It gives point images over 45 X 60 degrees on a 5inch X7inch film and, when stopped to f/8, will even cover an 8inchX10inch plate. We understand these also make great projection lenses. This one is in new condition. Focal length is 6 inches. There is a center aperture but we dont know the f number. It has coated optics and a 117mm clear diameter anti-vignetting filter. These are complete with a 3 mounting hole flange (80mm diameter) and front and back protective lens covers. Assembly is 90mm long and 135mm diameter at the front and 62mm diameter in back. Front and rear lens elements are 45mm diameter. This was a rare find and will sell out fast as did the last ones we had. Unused |

This is the same as our L2084 except something doesn't work. Made for the Revere 35mm stereo cameras. Lenses are in mint condition but the shutter may not cock correctly, or both iris diaphragms may not move in tandem, or some other mechanical problem. Here's a great opportunity to get two good 35mm f/3.5 camera lenses with coated optics as well as a mechanical challenge for a very low price. |
